The Mission of the Stonington Historical Society is to preserve, interpret, & celebrate the history of all of Stonington.

We are dedicated to illuminating and sharing the history of all of Stonington for everyone. Museums incorporate research, stories, and belongings into exhibits that illustrate our storied past. Our library holds thousands of manuscripts, documents, records, and belongings that contributed to the identity of this community and its inhabitants over hundreds of years. Our sites preserve significant architectural features of our cultural landscape, provide opportunities to gather, and contribute to a sense of history and place for Stonington.  Our shared history – distant and more recent -includes many different communities that have called this region their home and they all have a story to tell that enhances our understanding of the past. We are always looking for ways to collect and to share those stories in meaningful and relevant ways and we welcome collaborations and ideas from our community.
