The Counting House! A Tour of Stonington’s First Bank and Custom House
September 30 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us for an exclusive peek inside the Stonington Custom House. Built in 1823 by Charles Hewitt Smith, this building served as Stonington’s first bank. The building was taken over in 1842 to be used as a Custom House when Stonington was declared a point of entry. The program will include a short presentation about the builder and the structure followed by a tour of the interior that still features some of the original details. Light refreshments included. Gather at 14 Main Street.
