Group & School Visits

We offer a wide range of educational and internship opportunities. These include age-appropriate outreach programs that bring hands-on collections into the classroom with experienced guides and teachers for all ages; guided tours of the museums and the research libraries; a Stonington history course at the Stonington High School; Research and mentoring for Connecticut History Day; and internships for high school and college level students.

Internships can be designed to explore exhibit design and research, marketing and public relations, editing and desktop publishing, library and archival research, and collections care of artifacts. Each of these would be project-based with a deliverable goal. Possible products might include a pop-up exhibit, a publicity campaign, an article in our newsletter, a finding aid in the library, or a set of preservation recommendations, and more.

For more information on Group & School Visits, contact Aaron Lord, Museum Manager at museums@historicstonington.org.

Before taking this class I never would have thought of Stonington to be this rich in history. I barely even knew where the borough was, let alone know the battles and people who impacted our town as much as they did. Now I’m leaving this class truly recognising how amazing this town I live in is.
