House Histories

Let us help you trace the history of your home!  Professional and volunteer researchers will compile an extensive portfolio of your property drawing from land records, probate inventories, historical maps, oral histories, and photograph archives; detailing the families that lived there, architectural or landscape changes to the property, and whatever else we can find! Each portfolio comes with a wooden house plaque that identifies the original owner and estimated date of construction.

Due to the amount of time and effort that goes into these histories, two payments of $250 are required. The first payment is due at the time of the application, and the second payment is due at the time of completion and delivery. Applications submitted without the first payment will not be considered.

Eligible properties must be within the boundaries of Stonington and at least fifty years old.

This program does not imply or impose any restrictions, nor does it take the place of a property title search for a land transaction. Any research conducted by Historic Stonington is added to our collection and will be available to researchers at the R.W. Woolworth Library and Research Center.
