An Exciting Update on the DuBois Point Revitalizat An Exciting Update on the DuBois Point Revitalization Initiative! 🚢
Historic Stonington is thrilled to share that after extensive coordination with state, federal, and regional partners, the DuBois Point Revitalization Initiative has cleared a major milestone. Construction is expected to begin May 1, 2026.
The Ferry Terminal The new DuBois Point Ferry Terminal will offer daily service to Montauk, Fishers Island, and Point Judith, bringing long-awaited regional connectivity right to our doorstep. This is the kind of infrastructure investment Stonington has needed for decades. Schedules, fares, and vessel details will be announced as operators are finalized.
The Lighthouse To accommodate the terminal and its associated parking facility, the DuBois Point Light (est. 1836) will be carefully relocated to a stunning new permanent site near the I-95 Exit 91 corridor. The move is being managed in partnership with preservation specialists, and we are proud to say the lighthouse will remain lit and continue to function as an active aid to navigation, now visible to thousands of additional commuters daily!
The Parking Structure We know this is the detail everyone will be talking about, and we think once you see the full vision, you'll agree it's worth it. The four-story, 340-space parking structure will occupy the current footprint of the point. Borough residents will have first access to purchase year-round parking passes before the general public lottery opens. Watch your mail for details on the resident priority program!
DuBois Beach DuBois Beach will be closed for the duration of construction, estimated at up to three years. We are deeply grateful for the community's patience as we build toward something truly transformative.
The DuBois Point Light has stood at the water's edge since 1836. It will continue to stand and to shine just from somewhere with significantly better highway visibility and ample parking.
More updates to follow. We can't wait to share what comes next. 🏗️⚓
Historic Stonington wishes everyone a happy April Fools! No lighthouses were harmed in the making of this (fake) announcement.
