$500 Donation – Welcome Center Campaign
$500.00
Built in 1840, the Lighthouse Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the first lighthouse in the United States to become a maritime museum. It preserves the history of Stonington and southeastern Connecticut and endures as a compelling feature of the cultural landscape. Exhibits explore an extraordinary collection of artifacts that illustrate and tell the stories of nearly 400 years of Stonington’s history.
Donations to The Welcome Center project will enhance the property and guest experience with dynamic, accessible museum space, an inviting terrace with granite benches, and off-street ADA-accessible parking. Significant grading amendments to one of the few remaining green spaces in Stonington Borough will greatly improve the venue for community concerts, holiday picnics, celebrations, and family programs.
We are grateful for the widespread generosity in support of the Historic Stonington Welcome Center and Lighthouse Museum Campaign. You made the renovation and restoration of the historic Lighthouse possible and we have been able to leverage those improvements into a greater impact for students, educators, and visitors. We made a promise to our community and there is still much to do. This worthy effort could be OUR legacy celebrating OUR shared history.
